Cardiovascular Associates of New York in Queens Joins NYU Langone Medical Center As Newest Faculty Group Practice

September 3, 2013 - 4:47pm

Effective today, Cardiovascular Associates of New York in Queens, Manhattan and Nassau county, has joined NYU Langone Medical Center as its newest Faculty Group Practice. As part of the relationship, cardiologists at NYU Langone Cardiovascular Associates have been appointed to the faculty of NYU School of Medicine and granted admitting privileges at NYU Langone.

The practice will maintain its current network of nine sites in Queens and Nassau counties and offer non-invasive cardiac services, including echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, vascular testing, nuclear testing, and an arrhythmia center for the diagnosis and management of rhythm disturbances, and a heart failure center.  For more complex procedures and surgery, its patients will now have seamless access to outpatient and inpatient care at NYU Langone, including cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac catheterization, cardiac CT (computed tomography) and PET (positron emission tomography).

“Since a significant portion of our patient population comes from Queens, we recognize the need for NYU Langone to expand its world-class medical care into this community,” said Andrew W. Brotman, MD, senior vice president and vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, chief clinical officer, NYU Langone. “NYU Langone Cardiovascular Associates is a vital part of that strategy, giving patients from Queens, as well as Manhattan and Nassau county, continued access to expert care locally as well as to the full resources of our Medical Center if more complex procedures are required.”

The latest Faculty Group Practice of 13 experienced cardiologists is led by medical director William Tenet, MD, clinical associate professor of medicine at NYU Langone School of Medicine. “Over the last 20 years we've established important relationships in the diverse neighborhoods of Queens, and joining NYU Langone as a Faculty Group Practice gives us a new platform for continuing to build excellence in cardiovascular care for our patients,” said Dr. Tenet.
