Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center Moves To New Facility
State-of-the-art Clinical Design and Proximity to Medical Center Enhances Integration of Care, Education Programs and Services
NYU Langone’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Comprehensive Care Center recently opened the doors to a new clinical practice – the first to occupy NYU Langone Medical Center’s new, nearly 300,000-square-foot Ambulatory Care Center located at 240 East 38th Street at Second Avenue in Manhattan.
This new facility and its proximity to the medial center complements the advanced care and expertise already provided by our medical and support staff,” said Joseph Herbert, MD, associate professor, Department of Neurology and director, MS Comprehensive Care Center, NYU Langone Medical Center. “While our scientists continue to help search for a cure for MS, significant advances in diagnostics and therapeutics allow our clinicians to identify MS earlier, initiate therapies to halt disease progression and treat symptoms more aggressively.”
The new and expanded MS Comprehensive Care Center is one of the largest MS centers in the Northeast and will include access to on-site infusion, laboratory and rehabilitation services. The MS Comprehensive Care Center is a model for integrated, comprehensive multi-disciplinary care offering unique programs for the changing needs of the patient community and their families, including specialized clinical and nursing care, comprehensive rehabilitation, mental health and cognitive interventions.
It is estimated that more than 700,000 Americans are living with MS, and currently there is no cure. The discovery of cause and eventual cure will require a coordinated, combined effort of clinicians and researchers, including a wide range of clinical and multi-center drug trials, neuroimaging studies, functional outcomes, studies on ethnic diversity and natural history of the disease.
NYU Langone’s Departments of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine are consistently ranked among the top in the country by U.S. News & World Report, and the MS Care Center is a model of integrated rehabilitative care, which distinguishes it from others across the country.
