NYU LANGONE MEDICAL CENTER ACTIVATES EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN IN ANTICIPATION OF HURRICANE SANDY

MEDICAL CENTER WILL NOT EVACUATE PATIENTS

Safety of Patients and Staff Medical Center’s Top Priority

NEW YORK, October 28, 2012 – NYU Langone Medical Center has activated its emergency preparedness plan in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. There are no plans to evacuate at this time. As a precaution, only patients able to be discharged were released.

All surgeries and procedures scheduled at NYU Langone Medical Center—with the exception of emergent procedures—are cancelled for Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30. In addition, all off-site ambulatory locations and physician offices located on the Medical Center’s campus will be closed both days. The Emergency Department is also now closed until further notice.

Patients scheduled to receive services between now and Tuesday are advised to call the NYU Langone Office of the Patient Experience at 212-263-6906 if they have questions or would like additional information.
