NEW YORK—Carol
A. Bernstein, M.D., has been elected president-elect of the American Psychiatric
Association. Dr. Bernstein is an associate professor of psychiatry, vice chair for education and associate dean for graduate medical education at New York University School of Medicine, a part of
NYU Langone Medical
Center. Dr. Bernstein joined NYU School
of Medicine in 1993.
A native of Port Washington, Long Island, she attended Paul D. Schreiber High School and was graduated from Bryn Mawr College with an A.B. in political science, cum laude. Dr. Bernstein received her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She resides in Manhattan with her husband and her daughter Samantha.
